A chieftain of the New Nigeria People\u2019s Party (NNPP<\/a>) Amb. Olufemi Ajadi has thrown his weight behind the proposed N200,000\u00a0 minimum wage for workers as proposed by labour unions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He appealed to Federal Government to consider the proposal without any further delay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A statement by Ajadi to congratulate workers on May Day explained improved livelihood of workers is sacrosanct and must remain top priority of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu\u2019s administration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He urged Governors to make workers\u2019 welfare their priority, saying without contribution of workers, no nation can reach its desired standard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Acknowledging dedication, resilience and innovation exemplified by the nation\u2019s workforce, Ajadi paid huge tribute to various professionals, including teachers, farmers, healthcare workers, engineers and countless others who contribute their skills and efforts to the advancement of Nigeria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to him: \u201cI rejoice with Nigeria workers on the occasion of this year\u2019s Workers Day. I salute your resilience, dedication, innovation and more importantly, the sacrifice you are making for our dear country in the face of current hardship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAs a friend of the Labour, I share in your joy and wish you a successful celebration devoid of violence and rancour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI also used this occasion to reiterate my call to our President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to approve a minimum wage or N200,000 for our workforce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe reality of today has shown us that the current minimum wage cannot sustain the least workers in the country.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ajadi, who was Ogun NNPP governorship candidate in the 2023 election, also said: \u201cOur Governors should put the welfares of workers in the front burner in their various states. They should think on daily basis how to improve the conditions of workers in their States\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
