A South West Chieftain of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, (NNPP) Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo has felicitated former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo on the occasion of his 88th Birthday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a goodwill message personally signed by him, Ajadi, while felicitating Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, described the former Nigerian President as a sincere patriot, who has remained relentless, even in old age, in his commitment to building bridges of harmony, equity and progress not only in Nigeria but also in Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI felicitate you as you celebrate your 88th birthday. You have lived a life of exemplary loyalty, service and patriotism to Nigeria and Africa, building bridges of harmony and making peace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI am delighted that even in old age, you have been relentless in your passion for a peaceful Nigeria and a prosperous Africa, and as you celebrate, I wish you more strength, sound health and peace of mind.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ajadi further stated that providence has constantly thrust the former number one citizen of Nigeria at the forefront at critical junctures in the nation\u2019s history, shaping its political landscape and influencing key decisions that have defined it\u2019s trajectory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He noted that even out of office, only a few will deny the considerable influence Chief Olusegun Obasanjo continue to wield among the political elite at and abroad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said Obasanjo\u2019s regular interventions in national affairs have helped shape public policies and thanked him for his onerous contributions to Nigeria as a statesman and leader.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou are an extraordinary leader and statesman who has made enormous contributions to Nigeria\u2019s development and whose life for the past six decades is woven deeply into the fabric of Nigeria\u2019s history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou served the country meritoriously in the Nigerian Army. As a Colonel, fate beckoned on you while commanding the Third Marine Division to receive the instrument of surrender from Col. Philip Effiong, the Biafran Army Commander, signalling the end of Nigeria\u2019s 30 month civil war.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou have made history as a Military Head of state in 1976 and a civilian president in 1999. During the two era\u2019s, you made important decisions, implemented critical policies and reforms that profoundly impacted the lives of many Nigerians, thereby\u00a0 consistently demonstrating a selfless commitment to national unity, peace and progress,\u201d the goodwill message read in part.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
